July 4 Celebration at San Gabriel Park
Come to San Gabriel Park for a full day of entertainment, fun, and fireworks at the 25th Annual Sertoma Club July 4th Family Celebration. Activities on Friday, July 4 begin at 11 am and last until 10 pm Admission is free.
The 4th of July celebration is sponsored each year by the Georgetown Sertoma Club, a local service organization. Their website is www.georgetownsertoma.org. Each year, as many as 50,000 people attend the Sertoma July 4 Celebration, according to Roy Holliday, Sertoma member and chair for the event. This year marks the 25th annual Sertoma July 4 event.
Hometown Parade in the Park
A Hometown Parade in San Gabriel Park begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Morrow Street low-water crossing and ends at the gazebo. The Georgetown Fire Department Pipes and Drums band will lead off the parade, which also will include Miss Georgetown Lauren Daniels, and her court. Kids are encouraged to decorate their wagons or bicycles for the parade, and there will be prizes for the best-decorated. The annual parade is sponsored by the Leadership Georgetown Alumni.
Entertainment, Activities, and Car Show
At the gazebo after the parade, Georgetown Mayor George Garver will speak and Miss Georgetown will sing several songs. Dr. Ron Swain will serve master of ceremonies. Musical entertainment featuring some of the best local and Central Texas talent will continue at the gazebo throughout the day until the fireworks display.
More than 80 arts and crafts booths will open at 11 a.m., as well as food vendors and a children’s area with games, activities, petting zoo, train rides, and face painting.
An open and informal car show will be held at the south end of the park near the intersection of Stadium Drive and Morrow Street. Owners of classic cars, antique cars, and hot rods are invited to participate. There is no entry fee or prizes.
Fireworks
The fireworks display begins at approximately 9 p.m. Fireworks will be launched from the McMaster Athletic Fields on N. College Street this year due to the construction of the Recreation Center expansion. Fireworks can be viewed from San Gabriel Park, VFW Park, and other areas in Georgetown.

Parking
Parking is limited in San Gabriel Park. Parking lots at the Show Barn, the Rodeo Arena, and other smaller lots in the park are available. Attendees also are encouraged to park at Georgetown High School and carpool to San Gabriel Park.
Limited handicapped parking is available in designated areas in San Gabriel Park.
The McMaster Fields parking lot and the Parks and Recreation Administration Building Parking lot at N. College Street and W.L. Walden Drive will both be closed due to their proximity to the fireworks fall zone.
College Street and McMaster Closure
Due to the fireworks fall zone, N. College Street will be closed from 8:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. between the Morrow Street low-water crossing and Holly Street. Parking, standing, or sitting along N. College Street will not be permitted during this time.
The McMaster Athletic Fields will be closed all day on Friday.
