Looks great! What will the hours be for the indoor pool and is the weight room going to finely be expanded?

Greg-Rec Supervisor | September 26th, 2008 at 1:05 pm

Adam,

The weight room will be much larger than the current weight room. We are also purchasing new equipment. The indoor pool hours and schedule are still being determined but the schedule will be set up to accomodate all different types of users at the same time.

I received a notice that the rec fees are going to increase because of the new additions to the facility. The new additions should be paid for with the money approved from a previous bond election. It appears the additions should be built promptly or cut back to reflect the money already approved. I regret the Center is increasing our fees. I keep telling everyone what a great deal it is to exercise there. This puts a little damper on my enthusiasm. jl

Hi Janice,

I appreciate your input on the expansion. The bond election covered costs to build the facility, however there is also money needed to maintain a facility and that is where we have to charge for a membership fee. While the fees may increase slightly to reflect more amenities and longer hours of operation (possibly being open seven days a week.) we will also be adding different membership “types” that were not previously offered before, such as Senior memberships, Couple memberships, and Sr. Couple memberships, to name a few. These memberships will be at substantial reduced costs and will be competetive rates compared to other local facilities with simlar amenities and hours of operation. The rates are currently under review and will be released closer to our move in date in Jan. Please contact me if you would like to discuss this further 930-1711, again thank you for your comments posted to the website-we enjoy hearing from the community.

It looks great!! I Cant wait to see it finished! Is there an estimated completion date?

Greg-Rec Supervisor | October 13th, 2008 at 9:37 am

Hi Michelle,

The new Rec. Center move-in date is set for Jan. 2009. At that time, the new phase of the expansion will be complete. The second phase (renovation of the current facility into the Teen/Senior Center) will be complete in March/April. These dates are subject to change based on weather and other factors, however they are ahead of schedule overall.

Any idea what the rates will be? In your message to Janice you said, “will be competetive rates compared to other local facilities with simlar amenities and hours of operation.” Since the bond election covered the costs to build the facility, and membership fees should only have to cover the cost of maintenance, shouldn’t the fees be much better than “competitive?”

Greg-Rec Supervisor | October 31st, 2008 at 9:55 am

Kyle,

We are getting closer to the release of the rates, they need to be approved by multiple review boards, including the Parks and Recreation Board (members of the public just like yourself) and also the City Council. Please contact me at 512-930-1711 and I would be glad to discuss this further.

This rec center looks wonderful. I have a two young children, will there be childcare available?

Greg-Rec Supervisor | November 11th, 2008 at 10:32 am

Hi Sumitra,

We will have a brand new childcare room with a fenced in outdoor playscape. The hours will be very similar to what we provide now. Monday-Friday 8:00a-12:30p and 4:00p-8:00p. Please call me at 512-930-1711 and I can discuss further.
