Lonely Hearts Club
The Georgetown Animal Shelter recently rekindled its Lonely Hearts Club as a way of focusing attention on cats and dogs that have been at the shelter for a long time. All three dogs that qualified (Charcoal, Sally and Jig) found new homes quickly.
Is there anyone out there who can give one of our Lonely Cats a chance? Read below about Samantha, Chuck and Tux, and see if their feline personalities might mesh with yours.
Laurie
My name is Laurie, and I’m a big brown tabby DSH. I’m one of the sweetest cats you’ll ever meet and would be happy to stay in your lap for hours. One of the felines here scratched my eye (she was jealous), but it’s recovering.
I’m a member of the Lonely Hearts Club because I’ve been at the shelter for more than two months.
Please come meet me at the City of Georgetown Animal Shelter. Adoptions of Lonely Hearts Club members are discounted $20.

Jig
UPDATE: I’ve now been adopted by a couple who adores me.
They call me Jig, maybe because I dance and jump. I am a very sweet, 1 1/2 year old neutered male, maybe a shepherd/lab mix. I would dearly love to go home with you.
I’m a member of the Lonely Hearts Club because I’ve been here since August. If you’re looking for a great dog to bring up to be part of the family, please come visit me at the City of Georgetown Animal Shelter. Lonely Hearts Club members receive a $20 discount off the application fee.

Chuck
UPDATE: Adopted, after 3 months at the shelter!
My name is Chuck. I’m pure black DSH and pure fun. I love my scratching posts, all kinds of toys, and racing around the shelter when the staff lets me out to stretch my legs.
I’m a member of the Lonely Hearts Club because I’ve been at the shelter for more than two months. (Hard to believe, right?) I’m a neutered male, about two years old.

Samantha
I am a female, spayed tuxedo cat who has more personality than you can shake a stick at. I’ve very playful and, because I’ve been deprived of my front claws, sometime my play involves biting.
I’m a member of the Lonely Hearts Club because I’ve been at the shelter for more than two months. Obviously, not everyone can handle my spunk, but the shelter staff thinks I’m great fun.
